Well i've spent the last few days playing thru Empire Poker after buying in
for $500 to receive the maximum $100 signup bonus. Just thought i'd share
some of my thoughts on the site... PokerParty Net
I played my 500 raked hands exclusively on the $1/$2 Hold'em tables, or
table rather, since each time I logged on there was only one full 1/2 table PokerParty Net
happening. Could just be that playing from Australia during the evenings is
a bit of a dead time for the rest of the world :). I prefer not to play PokerParty Net
shorthanded so I didn't have much in the way of game selection. Maybe a
good thing I didn't since the table stats in the lobby leave a bit to be PokerParty Net
desired. Only the average pot size is displayed with none of the other
information that is standard issue on other sites (percentage of players PokerParty Net
seeing flop, hands delt per hour, etc). This shitted me a little and could
be easily fixed. One other problem was the player/waiting lists seemed very
slow to update, and once or twice I seemed to get booted off the waiting
list after waiting 15 minutes to get to the top.
Once I got into the games it was all pretty straight forward. The software
seemed just a tiny bit slow and clunky compared to the silky smooth paradise
software, but it is fairly good all the same. Still I think both paradise
and ACR.com (the only other sites I really play at) provide a faster game.
Could just be my archaic Pentium 233mmx holding things up tho. I thought
the graphics were a little bit cramped on the screen but that is entirely a
matter of personal taste.
I tracked my play using Poker Tracker software, taking 618 hands to get my
500 raked hands. The rake is a bit nasty on the 1/2 tables, taking 50cents
from the first $5 in the pot, then the next 50cents not until $20 in the
pot. According to Poker Tracker the total rake was 3.8% of the pot size,
compared to 3.3% for the 0.50/1.00 tables I'm usually playing on paradise.
