Let me give a little background about myself... I'm sort of new to the
PokerParty. I've been playing online on partypoker.com for a few months
now. I've bought books by Doyle (Super/System), Hellmuth (Play Poker Like
the Pros), Cloutier and McEvoy (Championship No-Limit...), and Sklansky
(Tournament Poker for Adavanced Players). I am a fairly intelligent person
with a B.S. in Meteorology (come on, no jokes :) ) working on my Masters.
I think I play too tightly. Especially early in a sng tournament, I tend
to only play High Pairs, Medium Pairs, A-K, and A-Q. As the blinds go up,
I add Broadway and A-x to my arsenal. I feel that if I have a stack when
it gets to be short-handed I am a good player I am a good player. When I
am shortstacked in this situation I think I play too loosely. It seems
like every time I get busted PokerParty out (short-handed), I am in with Q-J or 5-5.
The other thing that concerns me is that I play "too mechanically." That
is, I always bet when PokerParty it is time to bet, call when it is right to call,
and fold when it is right to fold. I feel like I understand poker theory,
but I am not applying it correctly. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
